Beautifully Branded features Wendy Cunningham

Over the past few weeks I have been seeing bits and pieces of Wendy Cunningham’s new branding and packaging pop up in social media.  I was completely inspired by her new look and the products that she had chosen to represent her new brand.  Since P31 is all about inspiring and motivating Artist-Prenuers, I knew that this was something we HAD to include in our new blog!  So we have now added “Pretty Packaging” as a new category that will feature creative and inspirational branding from creatives in our industry.  We would like to feature several a month, so if you have a brand and packaging you are extra proud of and would like to share, please email us at pursuit31@gmail.com and share it with us! We’d love for you to help us inspire other women!

Branding your photography business is no easy task. There is way more involved than having a pretty website and logo. I try to explain to people that branding is actually the way you make someone feel. Someone’s perception of you is actually what your brand is weather you meant for it to be or not. So yes it is important to have a pretty website and logo. But it is also important to dress the part, and extend that personality through social media and your blog!

I took on the task of rebranding my wedding photography business this past year. I switched my website company to Showit, simply because they allowed me the freedom to show who I really am. It was important to me to share my life with others and not to be stuck in a cookie cutter template. I needed my potential clients to love ME… not just my work. But I didn’t stop there! I hired a designer to design my marketing materials. Kim with Madilu Designs did an amazing job creating exactly what I needed to extend my branding further past my online presence.

The pieces that she designed for me are covered with photos of me and the only two products I offer which are albums and canvas gallery wraps. The rest of the pieces are designed in a way to show a bride that she is going to get an experience with me… not just pretty pictures. The text that I chose to include on several of these pieces were very carefully thought out and written in way to not only let the bride see that her experience with me as her wedding photographer is going to be amazing, but also to give her a certain PERCEPTION of me. The message that I want to send is that I love my family and JESUS.

It is always difficult to balance a business with religious beliefs. Many experts will say to stay quiet in the public’s eye when it comes to politics or religion. I say BOLOGNA! I BOLDLY state my love for Christ. It is who I am. Christ has totally shaped me into the type of mother, wife, friend, and photographer I am today. So to stay quiet in that aspect would be lying about who I am… which is the exact opposite of what I set out to do when I started rebranding.

Another goal I had when Kim was working on my marketing materials was to KEEP THINGS SIMPLE. I knew that I would not have time to run around ordering various pieces from various companies. So I asked Kim to design everything based on the two labs that I use the most! So she did. Every single card that she designed was designed and printed for Mpix Pro. The stickers were designed and printed at Miller’s Lab. How simple is that? And I love it! The only other vendor I have to order from is Paper Presentation which is where I get my Ash Grey folders from.

If you are going through a rebranding I encourage you to show yourself! Show who you are! Show what you offer! And do not be afraid to share your love for Christ! My prayers used to always be for God to show me how I can use the talent he gave me to bring glory to Him. I believe He has shown me. So it would be awful of me to not let that light shine!

~XOXO~
