I Work Here | 5th & 59th Photography

My office doubles as my bedroom. My bedroom is a really odd shape, it’s long and skinny. There aren’t many way to arrange the furniture without dividing the room awkwardly, so I decided to divide the room conveniently instead. I used my giant dresser (from Ikea) to separate the room so that it became two, more normal sized spaces. One half acted as my “office” and housed my desk (from Fred Meyer), computer, and bookshelf (also from Fred Meyer). It gave me a place to display my vintage cameras that I picked up at an antique store near my house, a photo collage that my friends made for me when I moved from California to Oregon (yes, that IS a picture of Justin Timberlake), and my “WooHoo” bear that I got from the free bin at my last job, when I was working in San Jose, CA doing marketing for the San Jose State University Bookstore.

This divided set up also made it so that I didn’t have to see my desk and computer first thing in the morning. It really changes your outlook on the day when you aren’t waking up with a computer screen in your face! My “bedroom” half was much cozier. It just has my bed, my file cabinet (which acts like a night stand), and a few accessories (like the lamp and decorative pillow) that I picked up at Target. I also share the room with my kitty, Johnny Cash, who really seems to enjoy the time that I spend working in there. He will often sit by my feet while I edit, but REFUSES to snuggle in bed! Haha. Oh well.
